We put a fire pit in the yard this summer and I have made it a point to cook outside at least two nights a week.  Last night, we were eating our burgers, baked beans and corn on the cob and I realized it was time to start picking the apples from the trees in the yard.  They were huge!  The boys got a ladder and grabbed as many as they could and I sliced them up, added brown sugar, butter and cinnamon and put them in a pot over the fire.  We had delicious spiced apples; picked fresh and cooked over an open fire.  Absolutely delicious!!

You don’t have to go camping to share the experience with your family.  Do something crazy and cook in the yard!
