I just read a review on a new egg beater. Yep, egg beater. You know, the thing you probably have in your kitchen drawer that you never use because it’s THE most awkward hand “appliance” ever made.  I swear, every time I attempt to use one I end up making a huge mess.

(I happen to have two.  One is an “antique” from my grandmother’s kitchen that I just cannot get rid of and the other my father actually purchased – don’t know why – but I can’t get rid of that one either)

OXO came out with one that is supposedly the bomb; turns smoothly, has detachable beaters and works well enough to whip up soft peaks. Hmmmm. I’m a bit skeptical, as was the person who wrote the review (although she loved it once she used it). My feelings are, a fork works just as good if not better and you don’t get that darn splashing. And frankly I have never been able to get the hang of using a beater. But heck, if I see one the next time I’m in Target, I’ll buy it and give it a whirl. $19.95 is not too large of an investment for an experiment. I’ll keep you posted.
